What is RISQS?
RISQS — the Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme — is the audit scheme that qualifies suppliers to work with UK rail buyers. We carry out pre-audit compliance checks against the RISQS framework for client companies, reviewing their management system across roughly twenty operational areas — from top-level management structure and safety through to monitoring, review and continuous improvement — so they know exactly where they stand before the real audit.
What is Sentinel?
Sentinel is the industry scheme that governs individual track-worker sponsorship and access to Network Rail infrastructure. Every worker placed onto safety-critical rail work is sponsored under Sentinel by an approved employer and holds records of their competence, medicals and sponsorship status against a single identity.
How is compliance actually evidenced day to day?
Through the management system itself — controlled forms, live records, current job descriptions, up-to-date rule books, and monitoring against defined KPIs. Nothing is generated for audit week in isolation; the evidence exists because the work exists.
How often does the management system get reviewed and updated?
The system is subject to a defined review cycle and to trigger-based updates whenever underlying standards, rule books, or the way we operate changes. Reviews are documented in the same system they cover, so change control is visible rather than assumed.
